dilbert Creator Scott Adams Suggests Podcast Could Be Ending

Scott Adams opened his latest podcast with a candid acknowledgment of his struggle to stay awake, stating that his fatigue and slurred speech were not due to medication. “It’s going to be a tough day,” he noted. “I dozed off about five times while preparing for the show.”

Last May, Adams revealed his prostate cancer diagnosis, mentioning that it had already spread to his bones. At that time, he expressed uncertainty about surviving the summer. Although he made it through, he recently admitted that his chances of survival are now zero, with expectations to “transition” by January. Since that announcement, he has noticeably weakened.

During the 30-minute podcast, he attempted to maintain his usual routine by discussing current headlines and sharing his viewpoints. His insights continue to resonate, earning him a significant following, especially among his dilbert fan base.

As the podcast approached its end, Adams remarked, “Given how I feel today, I’m unsure if there will be a show tomorrow. If I feel better, I’ll be here.” He added that his current state might mean this could be his last show, expressing that he might fall asleep shortly after finishing.

He extended his gratitude to his supporters, saying, “Thank you for all the incredible support. I appreciate everything you’ve done, letting me share this experience with you, even if just virtually.” Adams elaborated on why this particular show might be significant, stating, “I’ve been informed that my mental sharpness is declining quickly, and I can definitely feel it today. I’m not on painkillers, so this decline is simply my body’s natural progression.”

He mentioned that this week would be particularly challenging as he prepares to say goodbye to many people he, unfortunately, may never see again. “It’s pretty tough,” he admitted.

He concluded with, “Goodbye, for now. I hope to see you again, but it’s uncertain.” Earlier in the week, Adams revealed his intention to convert to Christianity, explaining that he wasn’t a believer before but is now embracing faith. “Today marks the first time I share my conversion plan,” he stated, encouraging his Christian friends to look for his upcoming change.

Throughout the Trump administration, Adams has been a calm voice, often helping people make sense of a complicated world through his unique perspective. Some wish he would incorporate more traditional elements of faith, like baptism or confession, into his conversion. Regardless, there’s a sense of admiration for his strength in facing his mortality.
