NFL Redzone to Include Commercials Starting 2025-2026 Season

Scott Hanson, the host of “NFL Redzone,” expressed that the announcement of incorporating commercials into the show for the upcoming 2025-2026 season has left some fans confused and upset. During a discussion on ESPN’s “Pat McAfee Show,” he acknowledged the backlash from audiences, noting it was understandable given the circumstances.

Hanson shared his desire for a clearer communication regarding the changes. “I would have hoped the message could have been different a while ago,” he mentioned, emphasizing the hope for minimal disruption during viewing. He clarified that the intent is not to flood the show with commercials like typical NFL broadcasts.

While expressing empathy for fans’ frustrations, he also stated, “I know why people are upset; I’m on their side as a consumer too.” He confirmed that he plays no role in the business decisions regarding commercials, as that lies outside his responsibilities in the show. In fact, he hopes to see more football coverage, which is what he enjoys the most.

After the introduction of the commercial, Hanson reported receiving mixed feedback. Some viewers reportedly didn’t even notice the ads, and the show’s performance remains strong. “It was a big audience,” he noted, expressing optimism about the upcoming season.

Hanson is collaborating with Lowe’s on the “Hear Your Sunday” initiative. The campaign encourages fans to bring the same focus and effort they have for their teams into home improvement projects. “I think it resonates because fans don’t want to waste their Sundays on the couch,” he said, highlighting a cultural tradition among supporters.

As the NFL season approaches, with expectations for star players like Justin Jefferson and Saquon Barkley to shine, Hanson is eager for an exciting year ahead. “This season will be a lot of fun,” he concluded, looking forward to the games and their unfolding dramas.
