Scott Jennings Critiques Jasmine Crockett’s Comments on Charlie Kirk
On Sunday, Scott Jennings, a conservative commentator for CNN, took issue with Texas Democrat Jasmine Crockett over her remarks about Charlie Kirk, which he described as a “malicious smear.”
Crockett suggested that Congress members opposed a motion honoring Kirk due to his alleged racist remarks towards people of color, particularly after he was murdered.
“We often hear calls for unity and civility from both sides, implying we need to reflect on our actions,” she remarked. “When I saw the no votes, they were predominantly from white lawmakers. More often than not, it was people of color who voted against it,” she continued, emphasizing that Kirk’s rhetoric hurt communities of color and lamenting that her colleagues failed to recognize this harm.
In response, Jennings adamantly rejected her claims. “She’s lying. Charlie Kirk didn’t target anyone,” he stated. “He was never racist. I’ve spent countless hours in discussions with him; I’ve attended events with him. To claim he consistently targeted people of color is simply a malicious attack on a day meant to honor him.”
Jennings expressed his disbelief at Crockett’s comments, suggesting that while he wasn’t completely surprised by her stance, it left him feeling unsettled. He emphasized that for many Americans, it was a day of mourning, contrasting it with the approach of a few who seemed eager to spread division and hatred.
In his social media response, he pointed out how the day was meant for remembrance and respect rather than slander and division, particularly towards someone engaged in honest debate.
