Scott Jennings Critiques “No Kings” Protests
On Sunday, Republican strategist Scott Jennings poked fun at Democrats for their recent “No Kings” protests that occurred the day before. In Washington, D.C., thousands took part in these demonstrations, which were part of a broader “No Kings Day” event meant to oppose President Donald Trump and specifically highlight actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
During an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Jennings noted that he noticed various flags, including those associated with communism and terrorist groups, suggesting that the protests were emblematic of the Democratic party’s current coalition. He mentioned, “These No Kings rallies look to me pretty representative of the Democratic coalition.” It seems he found the demonstrations quite revealing of the party’s characteristics.
Jennings continued, “I saw people brandishing hammers and sickles in New York City. I saw Hezbollah flags. I saw Hamas flags. I saw Palestinian flags. I saw trans signs. I saw some weird liberal baby boomers.” He argued that, because the Democrats are the ones funding this coalition, voters might start questioning what both parties really stand for.
During the protests, demonstrators were recorded chanting anti-police slogans. Notably, as police officers were escorting the marchers, some could be heard calling for the defunding and even abolishing of the police—quite an ironic situation since the officers were present to maintain order.
At one point, a male protester led chants that called for abolishing the police, while being filmed by a reporter from the Daily Caller News Foundation. Additionally, images from the protests showed participants wearing hats and flags emblazoned with hammers and sickles.
Interestingly, while the No Kings event claims to stand against authoritarianism in the U.S., its official partners seem to include groups that have historically supported oppressive communist regimes elsewhere.
