LIV Golf’s Season Could Wrap Up Early

The LIV Golf season might not last as long as anticipated. In a recent discussion, CEO Scott O’Neill admitted that he couldn’t ensure the final four tournaments of the 2026 season would take place.

A shift in plans is expected soon. Reports indicate a growing concern among those involved with LIV that funding from the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) could be pulled at any moment.

Although PIF has stated it will continue to support the league through the end of the season, one executive expressed uncertainty about when that support might cease.

One event, which was set for June in New Orleans, has already been scrapped. This cancellation was attributed to potential high temperatures and a scheduling clash with the World Cup, though it may be rescheduled for later in the year.

With just four events left, the season is set to conclude in August with a team championship tournament based in Michigan.

Some insiders doubt that LIV will reach Michigan, with one remarking on the uncertain future of the tournaments.

Two additional events are planned in the U.S., with the most secure one slated for early August at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

LIV executives are actively seeking new investors, given that the PIF has financed the entire tour with over $6 billion since it began in 2022.

Despite these challenges, O’Neill emphasized that they’re seeing positive progress both on and off the course. He mentioned that they have started to share their business strategies with potential partners, highlighting opportunities in global team golf.

The tour still boasts some of golf’s marquee players, including Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, and Dustin Johnson.

O’Neill reassured potential investors that entering this business could yield significant returns.
