Mayoral frontrunner Andrew Cuomo’s Jewish rival torn the former governor’s Sunday.
candidate Scott Stringer said Speech during At the Western Association’s synagogue, advocacy groups were to fight Jewish hatred “Never again, now!” but instead became a way to support Cuomo’s comeback campaign.
“He actually showed up in people’s living rooms, ran commercials, host symposiums, and made an arrangement to create money-making, raised from the Jewish donor community.
“But he never lifted his fingers. There were no commercials. There were none,” Stringer added. “This organization was a racial instrument of his mayor. Everyone knows that.”
Cuomo had previously spoken at the same synagogue and denounced other candidates in a crowded Democratic primary for tolerating Jewish hatred and anti-Semitics.
“He knew he wouldn’t call me, that would have been a mistake,” Stringer told the congregation early in his speech. “But even so, I was appalled by his cynical and frankly attempt to divide this community.
Stringer said what’s even worse is what Cuomo didn’t say in the wake of the Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel on October 7, 2023.
“He didn’t say he came to this community at our darkest moment, at the time we needed. Hundreds of hostages were held in Gaza after more than 1,200 people were killed by the terrorist organization Hamas – and he lied to us,” Stringer said.
“This was the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust. Our hearts were broken,” he said. “And he sold all our products to us in our darkest moments, in our darkest moments.
Stringer then noted the congregation about Cuomo, quoting from the aisle of the Talmud.
“‘Beware of the government, as they only get closer to the man when they need him. They look like good friends at good times, but they don’t stay for him when he’s in trouble,” he said.
Cuomo’s “Never Again, Now” has prepared a video ad to attack Hamas in July 2024, as reported in the post.
But ads I got some airtimeThe New York Times later reported.
Cuomo won a massive lead in the polls as the Democratic primary for the Democratic Chears on June 24th. Stringers vote in single digits.
Cuomo faces attacks with the mayor’s run after resigning as governor in 2021 based on the threat of each ammo in a series of sexual misconduct accusations he has denied.
He has also been heavily criticized for the processing of the March 2020 management directive that ordered nursing homes to accept recovery from coronavirus patients who have been discharged from hospitals.
In response to Stringer, the Cuomo Campaign provided a statement from state legislator Sam Berger, a supporter of Cuomo in the Jewish community.
“Governor Cuomo showed support for the Jewish community with not just words but actions. Scott Stringer played Footsy alongside the anti-Israel, anti-democratic DSA. [Democratic Socialists of America] And an allies who don’t condemn hatred,” Berger said.
“When Queens faced a DA choice among Jewish pro-Israel candidates [Melinda Katz] DSA members carrying cards [Tiffany Caban]Stringer chose DSA. We need a mayor to fight for us.
Meanwhile, Cuomo defended his decision during the pandemic while speaking at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Brooklyn on Sunday morning.
“We beat Covid and saved our lives,” he told the church congregation.
