Scottie Scheffler a massive favorite amid historic run

Scottie Scheffler is once again on a roll ahead of the U.S. Open.

FanDuel Sportsbook has the world’s No. 1 ranked golfer at +280 to win the year’s second major this weekend at Pinehurst No. 2.

These are the lowest odds a golfer has been offered before a major tournament since Tiger Woods was at +180 before the 2009 PGA Championship.

Schaefer enters the U.S. Open on the best footy of all time.

Last weekend, Scheffler won the Memorial Tournament, becoming the first player since Tom Watson in 1980 to win five PGA Tour events before the U.S. Open.

He has finished in the top 10 in each of his last 11 tournaments.

Since mid-March, he has won five of his eight tournaments, including the Masters in April.

This is not the first time Scheffler has gone into a major tournament this season as a historic favorite.

Heading into the PGA Championship in May, Scheffler was a +450 favorite to win, according to SportsOddsHistory.com, the lowest PGA Championship odds since Woods was a +400 favorite to win the 2013 tournament.

He had a similar result at the Masters in April, also finishing with a score of +450, a result only Woods has bettered at Augusta since 2000.

As expected, bettors predicted that Scheffler would win the tournament.

He won 22.3% of tickets and 45.8% of volume at BetMGM Sportsbook and won his second major of the season.

Following Scheffler on the odds board are PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele (+1000) and Rory McIlroy (+1100), who is looking to win his first major championship in a decade.

Collin Morikawa (+1600) and Viktor Hovland (+1800) round out the top five, followed by Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka, both at +2000.
