Scottie Scheffler experiences a trophy incident while celebrating at the PGA Championship

Scottie Scheffler’s enthusiasm for clinching the PGA Championship title literally caused the top of the Wanamaker trophy to pop off.

As he celebrated his third major win, Scheffler hoisted the trophy, prompting nearby executives to scramble and catch the lid before it hit the ground.

After placing the trophy back on the stand, Scheffler couldn’t help but chuckle at the mishap.

During a CBS Sports broadcast, Amanda Balionis remarked, “Jim, I don’t think he can be good at everything,” as she interviewed Scheffler.

Jim Nantz responded with laughter, saying, “It’s going to happen.”

In a follow-up video, CBS Sports showed Scheffler attempting to fix the slightly crooked top of the trophy.

“We’ll fix that,” reassured one of the American PGA executives.

On Sunday in Charlotte, Scheffler’s win came after he held off John Rahm, finishing with a score of 71 in the final round, landing at 11 under overall.

“I knew it would be a challenging day. It’s always tough to close out a major championship,” Scheffler mentioned to CBS. “I managed to stay patient on the front nine, even though I wasn’t at my best, but I accepted it and stepped up on the back nine.”
