Scotty Schaeffler Secures Third Major Win
On Sunday, Scotty Schaeffler celebrated a remarkable achievement, clinching his first PGA Championship and marking his third major victory overall.
The world’s top golfer shared a heartfelt moment with his wife, Meredith, at Quail Hollow, embracing and kissing her after finishing the tournament at 11 under, winning by five strokes.
“I’m so proud of you,” an emotional Meredith was heard saying during the broadcast.
Post-victory, Schaeffler was keen to include their son, Bennett, in the celebrations, showcasing the family bond during this significant moment.
At 28, Schaeffler had started the day on the leaderboard, having shed tears in the previous round. He fired a 6-under 65, notably birdieing the last two holes.
This victory was particularly meaningful as it was Schaeffler’s first major win since securing his second Green Jacket at the 2024 Masters.
Interestingly, Meredith could not attend the celebration last April as she was preparing to welcome Bennett into the world.
Before the 2024 PGA Championship, Schaeffler faced an unusual situation—he was temporarily detained due to a misunderstanding involving traffic flow, which he later described humorously, noting that he had spent time stretching in his holding cell as part of his warm-up.
The charges related to the incident were eventually dropped. In this season’s major events, Schaeffler tied for eighth place in his second major.
This year, he had one victory, winning the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in early May, and celebrated with his family, highlighting their five years together.
