Schaeffler’s Dramatic Birdie Shot Seals BMW Championship Victory

Scotty Schaeffler’s recent performance might as well have been scripted for a Hollywood film. On Sunday, during the final round of the BMW Championship, he executed a stunning 82-foot chip on the 17th hole—not a pre-planned moment but a genuine highlight that secured him his fifth PGA Tour title this year.

This memorable shot took place at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland, as Schaeffler struck the ball from just off the green, landing it in a rough patch. He watched as it rolled smoothly, passing by the pins, before dropping into the cup.

The timing couldn’t have been better, with Robert McIntyre closing in, just a shot behind as they approached the 17th. “It looked good when we landed, it looked good when we were rolling, and it was good to see it coming in,” Schaeffler remarked about the impressive shot.

Finishing the day at 15 under par, he recorded a 3-under 67, clinching the victory by two strokes after entering the day four behind McIntyre.

This incredible moment attracted attention from golf fans and even caught the eye of NFL star Patrick Mahomes, who expressed his astonishment on social media, writing, “Scotty is a crazy guy,” accompanied by several laughing emojis.

Another sports icon, NBA superstar LeBron James, also took to social media to comment, exclaiming, “Schaeffler is so cold!!” He followed up with another post, noting, “Crazy Zone He’s Now!”

Knicks star Josh Hart chimed in, remarking, “It was crazy Scotty Schaeffler,” reflecting a sentiment shared widely among fans and athletes alike.

A four-time major champion, Schaeffler has now amassed a total of 12 PGA Tour victories and has also won gold medals at the last two Olympic Games.
