Scottie Scheffler is pretty disciplined. He is particular about his process and cares about his faith and family above all else.
But he also has a great sense of humor, which he displayed again at Wednesday's Hero World Challenge.
After being asked three questions about the Ryder Cup and the current pay-to-play saga that will never escape the American side, a reporter asked Scheffler what he and Tiger Woods discussed during Wednesday's pro-am.
he, great joke answer.
“I think most of the time we just talk about money and the need to grow our wallets,” Scheffler says.
“Today we got serious about the Ryder Cup and learned it's BS that we never got paid for. Tiger is really frustrated and hasn't had enough money in his career. I feel the same way and I feel like I wasn't getting paid enough for what I did last year, which is mostly it, but it's just unpleasant. There are just so many things.”
In an illustrious career that included 15 major titles and 82 PGA Tour wins, Woods earned a staggering $121 million. Thanks to his endorsements and other business ventures, he currently has a fortune of around $2 billion.
Scheffler, on the other hand, earned more than $62 million last year alone thanks to seven wins, four of which came in signature events. Oh, and he also won at Augusta National.
Scheffler deleted this line, which is obviously not true, but it is objectively funny. After delivering it to him, he couldn't help but laugh as well.
The world No. 1 then touched on what he and Woods had discussed on Wednesday.
“No, I mean, sometimes I want to pick Tiger's brain. He's a great guy who can bounce things off,” Scheffler said of his conversation with Woods.
“Today he's walking around with a putter, so we started talking a little bit about putters. We talked about his kids, which is really exciting. Asking someone about their kids… And they're always so excited and it's really fun to do with people because they're so excited and they have so much fun sharing what's going on and he's the same with the kids. I always get excited when I talk about it.”
Of course, Scheffler became a father in May of this year, welcoming son Bennett into the world with his wife Meredith. Meanwhile, Woods has two children, Sam and Charlie, the latter of whom has competed in numerous events with his father, namely the PNC Championship.
But on Tuesday, Woods did not say whether he and Charlie would play in this year's PNC, which begins in two weeks from Friday. Woods, who underwent another hip surgery in September, said he has “no idea” when he will play next.
That unfortunate reality means Woods will only host, not play, this week's Hero World Challenge, which Scheffler won last year.
