He threw for 4,319 yards, 254.1 yards per game and 35 touchdowns. All of these were career-best.

The first round pick of the former Jets 2017 led Minnesota to his second playoff appearance in three seasons, winning the best regular season record since 1998 and earning his first Pro Bowl selection in the process.

However, the Vikings' success was short-lived in the playoffs as they suffered a loss that was blown away by the Rams in the wildcard round.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Minnesota has announced its offer to Darnold for a contract, but the official dollar amount has not yet been revealed.

“The Vikings are offering him,” Pericero said. At the rich Eisen Show on Friday. “They are in discussion. They chose not to use franchise tags, which is a pretty good indication that Samdarnold's market is probably a little lighter than what people were expecting outside.”

Smith and Darnold have many similarities in their careers, just to succeed in other franchises, as both quarterbacks began with a lot of hype as the Jets.

Smith, 34, will be reunited with former Seattle head coach Pete Carroll, who played between 2020 and 23.
