Seahawks Fans Receive an Unexpected Treat as GM Tosses Jesus Statues During Super Bowl Parade

During parades, it’s pretty standard to see people tossing out candies like mints and lollipops to the crowd. But a small Jesus figurine? That’s definitely a twist.

That’s what fans witnessed on Wednesday at the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks parade when General Manager John Schneider hurled numerous tiny Jesus figurines into the crowd, with handfuls flying out at a time. These figurines varied in design but shared a heartfelt message: “Jesus loves you,” swapping out “I love you” on the belt for a little heart.

In his role, Schneider is responsible for building the team—from draft strategies to trades and signings. He’s also known for his deep Catholic faith, which resonates with many team members who share similar beliefs.

Living in a city where soccer is passionately followed and being an active churchgoer has led to some memorable moments. Back in 2016, he recounted a charming encounter at Mass, where a couple he often speaks with wished him luck and even jokingly urged him to take care of the offensive line. Schneider recalled a friendly exchange “Okay, bro. God bless you.”

Yet, not everyone is aware of his position. In 2012, Schneider shared with humor his experience of asking a priest for prayer before his inaugural draft. He mentioned the pressure associated with being a general manager.

“I’m the new general manager of the Seattle Seahawks, and I’m holding my first draft,” he explained. He asked the priest for guidance and wisdom, and after their prayer, the priest innocently inquired about his role again

Schneider, along with his family, is heavily engaged in the Seattle community. He and his wife, Tracy, set up Ben’s Fund in 2012 to honor their son, Ben, who was diagnosed with autism early on. This nonprofit aims to provide financial support and guidance for children on the autism spectrum.
