Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs appeals to the judge for compassion before his sentencing

Shawn “Diddy” Combs reached out to the judge in a heartfelt letter just before his sentencing following a conviction for prostitution-related offenses.

In the nearly four-page letter, he expressed deep remorse, stating, “First and foremost, I would like to apologize and say how sorry I am for all the wounds and pains that I have caused others by my actions.” He emphasized taking full responsibility for his past mistakes, noting, “I made a lot of mistakes,” and claimed he is no longer evading the truth.

At 55, Combs shared his struggle with guilt, admitting he felt he was “never enough” to heal the pain caused in the past. He reflected on troubling hotel surveillance footage from 2016, saying, “My scenes and images of me attacking Cathy are playing over and over again every day.” He added, “I literally lost my heart. I put my hands on the woman I loved and I was wrong. I’m sorry for that, and it’s something I’ll always have to confront.”

He mentioned feeling an inability to forgive himself, saying, “If they put their hands on one of my daughters… that’s why it’s so hard for me to forgive myself. It leaves a deep scar.” Combs acknowledged that he had succumbed to “drugs and excess,” admitting that spending 13 months in confinement “humbled” and “broke” him in many ways.

He remarked, “Old I died in prison, and my new version of myself has been reborn,” suggesting that his time behind bars changed him profoundly. He asked the judge for mercy, emphasizing the importance of a second chance for the sake of his children. “God blessed me with seven beautiful kids,” he noted, including three sons and four daughters, underscoring his priorities have shifted away from fame and wealth to focus on family.

Combs also described his role as a parent, confessing, “As a father, I have failed my children.” He conveyed a commitment to living a drug-free, non-violent life and asked the judge for another opportunity, presenting himself as a changed man.

Arrested in September 2024, Combs was found guilty in July of several charges, including engaging in prostitution and other sexual offenses. He faces a potential sentence of up to 20 years and is currently incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, while maintaining his innocence and pleading not guilty to all charges.
