Diddy’s Trial: Testimony from Former Assistant
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ex-personal assistant shared in court that when Combs first met Kathy Ventura, he referred to her as “young” and “moldable.”
David James, who was with Bad Boy Records between 2007 and 2009, recounted their initial encounter nearly two decades ago while in Miami.
During proceedings at the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of New York, James recalled Combs’ description of Ventura. Combs apparently remarked, “I have her where I want her; she’s young.” James noted that Combs said she was very “moldable.”
James also talked about a car ride where Combs discussed his relationship with Kim Porter, the mother of four of his seven children. He mentioned that Combs had a list of women he was seeing at that time.
“Ms. Porter was his main girlfriend,” he noted, adding that Combs was also dating at least three others including “Sarah,” “Tara,” and “Cathy.”
Porter passed away from pneumonia in 2018 at the age of 47. James reminisced about a trip in 2007 when he smoked with Ventura and her friend Kelly Morgan at Combs’ exclusive Star Island property.
James recalled Ventura exclaiming, “Man, is this lifestyle crazy?” He also asked her why she didn’t leave Combs.
Further details included James managing Ventura’s music career and finances. He testified that Combs covered her apartment expenses and provided her with additional benefits.
The trial concluded around 3 PM on Monday, with James expected to continue his testimony the following morning.
The 55-year-old Combs faces charges including sex trafficking, assault, and fraud, with a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison looming over him. He remains in custody without bail as he awaits trial.
