Sean 'Diddy' Combs shows up in New York court before sentencing

Sean “Diddy” Combs made a court appearance in Manhattan on Thursday, wearing prison-issued garb while his lawyer sought to dismiss his case ahead of sentencing next week.

The 55-year-old mogul, who had previously donned a button-down shirt and a sweater during his sex crime trial, was now in plain scrubs. His brief 90-minute appearance was marked by a court document that showcased commendations from fellow inmates about a business class he conducted, termed “Free Game with Diddy.”

Among those praising him was Douglas Welch, a man serving time for running a sex trafficking ring. He noted that Combs made a significant impact on their daily lives. Another inmate, Arturo Santiago, voiced that attending the class gave him purpose as he awaited his own fate after being arrested for heroin possession.

These endorsements seemed aimed at portraying Combs in a positive light as he prepares for sentencing.

The syllabus revealed in court included affirmations such as “no ego” and “time waits for no man,” alongside more practical themes about dealing with failure and money management.

Feedback from other inmates highlighted how impressive they found the class, urging prison officials to keep it going. The document also suggested that Combs had formed bonds with other inmates, perhaps reflecting a desire to help those around him during tough times.

Facing a sentence of up to ten years next Friday, Combs previously avoided a life sentence when he was acquitted of assault and sex trafficking charges. However, he was still convicted of Mann Act violations.

As he left the courtroom, he expressed love for his family and friends present, sharing that he feels closer to freedom with each passing day.

Though his legal team asked for him to wear his preferred sweater during the hearing, the request was not granted in time, though he is expected to have it available for the upcoming sentencing.
