Sean Payton harshly criticizes Geoff Schwartz for his opinion on Bo Nix

Sean Payton took a shot at Geoff Schwartz after the former Giants lineman critiqued Broncos quarterback Bo Nix during Wednesday’s episode of “First Things First” on FS1.

While filling in for a regular host, Schwartz was asked whether he thought Nix would improve or regress in his third NFL season.

Payton seemed to take issue with Schwartz’s response. When a clip from the segment was shared on social media, the Broncos coach replied, stating, “Always easy to tell who works at it and who doesn’t.”

In his analysis, Schwartz appeared to downplay Nix’s passing game. He remarked, “I do think he just is what he is at this point. He looks like the same quarterback he was in college. He’s consistent. He’s not gonna make mistakes. But he’s not gonna push the ball down the field all that often.”

Schwartz noted that Nix’s passing yards are generally on the shorter side, with his advanced stats placing him around the middle of the pack in the NFL. He suggested that Payton needed to encourage Nix to throw more in between the hashes.

Interestingly, Schwartz did commend the Broncos for tailoring their offense to Nix’s strengths.

However, Payton’s focus seemed to be elsewhere when he responded to Schwartz’s critique on social media.

The discussion sparked user interactions on X, where some pointed out that Nix has actually thrown more touchdown passes of at least 20 yards than any other quarterback in the NFL since the start of the 2024 season.
