Season 4 Episode 2 Summary of "The Traitors": "The Death Conga"

Episode Recap: Traitors Season 2, Episode 2

The second episode of Traitors kicks off bright and early after the shocking murder that ended the first. It’s time for breakfast, and I have to admit, even if the main event is just contestants enjoying some fruit and eggs while an Alan Cumming impersonator wreaks havoc on enemy portraits, I’d be there for it.

Last we checked in with the trio of known traitors—Rob R., Lisa Rinna, and Candace Dillard Bassett—they were picking from a short list of potential murder victims. It’s kind of wild that Rob, being a traitor himself, got caught off guard when he realized his name was on the list. But it did help him focus. With three options left—Ian Terry, Mark Ballas, and Eric Nam—the scene quickly turned somber when Ian turned up dead. Fans of earlier reality competitions will recognize Ian as a winner from Survivor, and it’s no surprise he became a target; these players usually have a knack for getting ahead.

As speculation swirls around who might be responsible, Porsha Williams drops a strange line during a chat with Ron Funches: “It might be Ian, but he’s the one I killed.” Yikes. Ron raises an eyebrow, wondering if it was just a slip or something more suspicious. Porsha’s quirky comment gets even more attention, especially since others, including Michael Rapaport and Donna Kelsey, start to speculate that maybe she’s the traitor after all. Being drawn into this kind of scrutiny has a funny way of solidifying trust among the remaining players—though many still have their eyes on Donna as a potential traitor too.

This episode also featured a challenge where players had to haul three thrones back to the castle while collecting gold for the bounty pot. Plus, those who snagged “shield tokens” earned the chance to claim a throne for some immunity later on. The dynamic of who’s sitting where really added to the tension.

Ultimately, Caroline Stanbury, Colton Underwood, and Rob R. came away with final shields, but in a twist, Rob handed his to Yum Yum Arocho. This move sparked a fit from Michael, who complained about the unspoken rule of having to justify why you deserve a shield. It’s amusing to see someone so invested in perceived fairness when frankly, this game is all about strategy and betrayal. Oddly enough, chivalry, like what Stephen Colletti displayed by giving his shield to Dorinda, doesn’t quite translate well into this cutthroat environment.

Porsha’s odd behavior continued; after the mission finished, she asserted that the Faithfuls were searching for four traitors. But there are really only three. Ron is starting to feel that maybe this season’s roundtable will be the one where a traitor finally gets ousted.

During the roundtable discussions, Natalie Anderson voices her suspicion of Donna based solely on her gut feeling, but that doesn’t hold much weight. Ron chimes in about Porsha, claiming her blunders are proof enough of her treachery. She tries to defend herself, attributing it to nerves, but Ron is not convinced.

Candace steps in to help Porsha, pushing back against Ron’s accusations. It felt like a smart play to bolster Porsha’s position for the long haul, but the drama escalates when Michael, still fuming over Yum Yum sitting in the shield throne, mentions how he was on the chopping block because “we killed Ian.” That choice of words raises eyebrows among the group.

When it came time to cast votes, it was a tight race, mainly between Donna, Michael, and Porsha, who seemed to be linked throughout the whole process. Lisa Rinna was the only one to vote for Porsha, generating tension among the Housewives who claim loyalty to each other. Eventually, Porsha was voted out, and the secret traitor element adds an exciting twist to the unfolding drama. Personally, I didn’t think she was a traitor, but there’s always that lingering doubt, which made the moment all the more suspenseful.

In a surprising and amusing turn, the traitors receive orders to carry out a murder in secret that night. They’ll need to retrieve tarot cards hidden behind pictures in the kitchen, which hold the names of potential victims. The plan is tricky, requiring stealth to accomplish their mission without being seen. It’s definitely not easy being a traitor with everyone lurking about. Candace, desperate for distraction, breaks into a conga line—imagine that! It’s amusing and absurd but serves a purpose, keeping others away from crucial tasks.

With Rob R. and Lisa positioned to decide on their target, things heat up. They have moments counting down the clock and ultimately burn a card without consulting Candace. The uncertainty looms: did they make the right choice? And, will they successfully uncover the identity of the secret traitor before their next meal? The suspense leaves viewers waiting, eager to see how this thrilling game plays out.

Who is the Secret Traitor?

As for the traitors this week, Eric Nam and Mark Ballas were among those faithful highlighted, while Kristen Kish, Tara Lipinski, Rob C., and Monet X Change came into focus. If the secret traitor is being discreet, that narrows it down some. I still think the notion that gamers are potential traitors holds weight, so my instinct says Yam Yam is one to watch.
