Vive LaRevolution!
It seems White Gloves made an appearance this past Monday at the annual Bastille Day Luncheon hosted by New York Social.
This extravagant gathering celebrated the 1789 Bastille raid at the new Maison Burns at Café Boulud on the Upper East Side.
However, things got a bit chaotic—according to a source who spoke to Page 6, there was quite a “war” over where everyone should sit. Quelle Horreur!
“Some people had to go to the wall, and those Upper East Side women were not happy about it,” the insider reported.
One guest even switched a name card, leading to frustration from a woman who suddenly found herself displaced. Initially, the culprit wouldn’t swap name tags—at one point, he even placed his hand on her face, declaring, “I won’t move! I know Jean well.”
One attendee witnessed the name card switch and noted, “The other woman was so mad that she left early,” according to another insider.
Shafilov expressed her disapproval, saying, “The etiquette rule is you never change your seat.” She continued, “I heard people were moving them. I really don’t like it.”
Meanwhile, former “Real Housewife of New York City” Ramona Singer and Julia Hart from “My Unorthodox Life” seemed unfazed by their seating assignments.
Captain Kelly Teegarden found himself sitting between the two reality stars, and sources indicated some flirting was happening. Apparently, Singer even tried to get his attention by flipping her hair.
When asked for comment, the singer hung up, which felt rather rude.
Designer Nicole Miller was the only married guest at the table, while Shafilov, clad in Alice and Olivia, kicked off the luncheon.
She mentioned her strategy behind the seating arrangements, admitting, “I wanted to surround Captain Kelly with single women since he’s single, and some of them were eager to sit near him.”
Although Captain Kelly is reportedly divorced, he does have a girlfriend, as noted in reports.
Excluding Miller, the table was filled with single women, and Shafilov speculated that “he probably enjoyed it… Call him the matchmaker of the city,” she said.
Amidst the glamour, Shafilov made a point to change outfits only twice instead of her usual three to four, explaining it wasn’t her home event.
She opted for high-necked Alice + Olivia pieces despite the warm weather, mentioning minimal fashion risks, citing an influence from Vogue and Anne Hathaway’s recent looks.
The gathering was certainly an event to remember.
As for Daniel Bouleaude’s latest spots? One guest commented, “The place is beautiful and the food is delicious,” wrapping up the review on a high note.
