Secret Service Finds Hunting Stand Near Palm Beach Airport
On Thursday, the U.S. Secret Service found a hunting stand near Palm Beach International Airport that had a clear view of President Donald Trump’s exit from Air Force One.
Anthony Guglielimi, a spokesman for the Secret Service, explained how they were able to identify the inconspicuous stand during security preparations for Trump’s arrival.
“The U.S. Secret Service is collaborating with the FBI and local law enforcement in Palm Beach County. During our advance security measures, we used technology and thorough physical sweeps, which led us to notice certain items of interest near the airport,” Guglielimi noted.
“There was no disruption to any movements, and no individuals were found at the location,” he added. “While we can’t disclose specifics about the items or their purpose, this incident highlights the necessity of our layered security approach.”
Following this discovery, the FBI has taken over the investigation.
“Before the President’s return to West Palm Beach, we identified what seemed to be an elevated hunting stand within the line of sight of where Air Force One lands,” stated FBI Director Kash Patel.
“No individuals were present at the scene. The FBI is now leading the investigation, bringing in resources to gather evidence and utilizing our cell phone analytics capabilities.”
A law enforcement source, speaking anonymously, indicated that the hunting stand may have been set up “months ago.”
This unsettling find comes after a series of assassination attempts against Trump, including one during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, last July. In that incident, a 20-year-old named Thomas Crooks fired at Trump from a rooftop, missing him but tragically killing a former volunteer fire chief. Crooks was subsequently shot by Secret Service counter-snipers shortly after.
Another episode occurred last September in Florida, where Ryan Routh was found hiding at Trump’s golf club. He was spotted aiming a rifle through the bushes while Trump played golf, prompting agents to engage him. Routh managed to escape but was later arrested on the same day.
Routh has since been convicted on several charges, including attempted assassination, and is due for sentencing in December.
