Secures Other Countries’ Borders First

Sen. Ted Budd (R-N.C.) said the long-hidden deal, unveiled days before the vote, “cannot change the landscape of the border crisis” and backed the Senate’s pro-immigration border deal. I plan to oppose it.

Mr. Budd’s strong criticism has put him on a list of senators who have publicly opposed the deal, which could require the approval of at least a dozen Republicans in a procedural vote on Wednesday to move forward. Highly sexual.

He has floated legislation to maintain the status quo at the border, but record migrant encounters have continued since President Joe Biden rolled back most of the Trump administration’s effective border security measures starting on his first day in office.

“This bill normalizes thousands more border crossings per day, institutionalizes catch-and-release, provides relief to sanctuary cities, and gives President Biden the power to further delay border wall construction.” he said. Posted X Monday.

“While I support efforts to strengthen our industrial base and support our ally Israel, I believe we must secure our own borders before we can help protect the borders of other countries. “That was my basic principle. That’s why I vote no,” he declared.

The border deal includes tens of millions of dollars in foreign aid for Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. The House previously passed an Israel aid bill that included spending offsets, but the Senate declined to take it up.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) called the Senate deal “dysfunctional” upon arrival in the House, the same week the Senate will consider a broader border and foreign aid deal. announced that it would pass a new aid bill for Israel without spending offsets.

A few Senate Republican supporters of the deal, including Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who brokered the deal, are pushing for funding for the southern border wall deal. Although advertised, the bill provides for the following: It only needs $650 million to continue building the border wall, but it has provided Ukraine with $48 billion from U.S. taxpayers.

This is equivalent to 75 times more border wall construction for Ukraine on the U.S.-Mexico border.
