Shortly after Leigh Ann Skoda lost her husband to cancer, a security camera captured an unexpected incident on the doorstep of her Nebraska home. The footage revealed that the FedEx driver shoveled snow off her front door out of kindness. And this act of kindness meant so much to this grieving mother of three.
These days, many homes are equipped with doorbell cameras. Mostly for security reasons. Homeowners can see who is at the door even when no one is home. Cameras have also helped catch thieves stealing packages from doorsteps.
But Lee Ann Skoda's doorbell camera wasn't the deliveryman doing the wrong thing. Quite the opposite! She captured an act of kindness that helped shine a light on a very dark time in her life.
A delivery man vows to help a widow.
Lee Ann Skoda's husband passed away at the age of 42 after a seven-month battle with cancer. And now Ms. Lee had to take care of her three children alone.
Her plight was brought to the attention of FedEx driver Brian Scholl.
One day, Lee was trying to inflate a tire and was having trouble removing the cap. Brian, who lived in a small town, often came to the area for his deliveries. When Lee was struggling with the tire cap, his truck was nearby, so Lee called for help.
As the two chat, Brian discovers that Lee has recently been widowed. With three young children to raise, he offers to help Lee in any way he can.
But this was not an empty offer. Brian didn't just say something “nice” at the right time. He meant it.
Then one day, Brian showed up on Lee's doorstep. He didn't ring the doorbell. He also didn't have any packages to deliver. Brian was there to secretly fulfill his offer to help in any way he could (or so he thought).
