Dog Attack Shocks Texas Family

A family’s security footage from Texas showed two pit bull dogs entering their home through the doggy door, which led to a tragic event where their pet was attacked fatally.

The homeowner, who preferred to remain anonymous, was at a Houston Astros game with her son when she received distressing alerts from her Ring camera. She relayed her frustration and sadness to KHOU-TV later on.

“I’m really sorry about what happened. We didn’t intend for this to occur. It was just a freak accident,” she expressed.

After realizing the situation, she asked her neighbor, Kendra Donald, to check on the home. Donald’s reaction upon seeing the scene was heart-wrenching.

“There was blood everywhere,” she noted solemnly.

Donald’s husband and son rushed in to help, but tragically, one of the dogs succumbed to its injuries while the other was hurt. Donald stayed close as she comforted the wounded pet.

“I laid down with Charlie and told him what a good boy he was,” she recalled. The dog wagged its tail before it passed away.

On the following Friday, investigators from Montgomery County Animal Services met with both the family and the owners of the attacking pit bulls.

“I’m really sorry about what happened. I also didn’t intend for this to transpire—it was a freak accident,” remarked one of the pit bull owners, who wished to remain unnamed.

Both dog owners claimed their pets had never shown any aggression prior to this incident and mentioned they were fully cooperating with the investigation.

The Animal Affairs Agency acknowledged the tragedy in a statement to KHOU, expressing sympathy for all individuals affected. “We take incidents like this very seriously and are actively investigating,” they emphasized, but also noted that no comments could be made regarding the status of the investigation at that moment.

Neighbors stepped in to assist the homeowner’s son with the cleanup before he returned, aiming to lessen any further distress.

Additional footage revealed one pit bull entering the residence after the family’s two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels had already come inside.

The homeowners mentioned they were now wary of letting their surviving dog outside unattended, fearing for its safety in their yard.

Mr. Donald mentioned that residents in the vicinity were understandably concerned about the potential for future attacks, suggesting that precautionary measures should be put in place.

“It’s more than just a simple quote for $125; this situation has devastated the entire family,” she added, clearly still processing the aftermath.
