Security specialist advises attendees at Kirk memorial service to remain vigilant

Security Heightened for Charlie Kirk’s Memorial in Arizona

As preparations ramp up for Charlie Kirk’s memorial in Arizona, former NYPD detectives and security experts are advising attendees to remain alert. Pat Brosnan stressed the importance of minimizing distractions, saying, “Put your phone away and stay attentive.”

The event at State Farm Stadium is anticipated to draw a significant crowd, with estimates suggesting over 100,000 attendees could gather both inside and outside the venue, which can hold about 63,000 people.

Brosnan advised mourners to stay acutely aware of their surroundings. “When you arrive, take notice of who’s around you… Think about who’s to your right, left, and behind you,” he stated.

Authorities have reported monitoring various unspecified threats linked to Kirk’s memorial, identifying attendees like government officials and high-profile figures as potential targets.

The Department of Homeland Security has classified Kirk’s memorial as a Level 1 special event, indicating the highest level of security planning, comparable to that of major events like the Super Bowl.

Among those expected to attend are former President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D., and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, along with other prominent politicians. The U.S. Secret Service is working alongside state and local law enforcement, deploying multiple drone units and security checkpoints across the venue.

Brosnan cautioned that, even within the stadium, potential threats could be present. “The environment is busy with tens of thousands of eyes and ears, which could be beneficial,” he noted. He emphasized that noticing any strange or abnormal behavior is key—people should trust their instincts and notify security if something seems off.

In connection with security, he stressed, “If you see something, say something.” He also mentioned that vulnerable areas during large events often extend outside the immediate venue, with parking lots serving as hotspots for potential threats.

While authorities are implementing comprehensive security measures, Brosnan acknowledged that no system is flawless. “Weapons can sometimes bypass even the most advanced security setups,” he warned, underscoring the necessity for public vigilance.

Charlie Kirk is survived by his wife, Erica, and their two young children. Erica is expected to speak at future memorial services alongside key figures such as the president and vice president. Unfortunately, Kirk was tragically shot last week while involved in a Turning Point event, with 22-year-old Tyler Robinson now in custody facing several charges, including murder.
