Snake Interrupts PGA Championship Round
On Thursday, a quirky incident unfolded during the second round of the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. Right in the middle of play on the 10th hole, a snake made its way across the fairway, prompting a temporary halt.
This unexpected visitor slithered near Sean Misser, who won the PGA Championship back in 2003. Volunteers quickly intervened, attempting to carefully move the snake away from the area where Michelle’s ball was positioned.
As the situation unfolded, Trevor Immelman, a former Masters champion, humorously remarked during the ESPN broadcasts, “I’m not going to ruin that.” His comment added a light touch to the otherwise tense moment.
However, the volunteers might have been a bit too hasty in their approach. At one point, they seemed to rush in, and the snake turned its focus back to them, causing a little stir. “That’s something you have to avoid… Now he’s riled,” another announcer noted, trying to make sense of it all.
After a bit of commotion, the snake eventually made its way into the rough, just as ESPN shifted back to covering the golfing action. Misser, surprisingly upbeat about this quirky interruption, went on to hit his shot just 11 feet away, even sinking a birdie putt afterward. At 56 years old, he was just on the edge of making the cut for the next round.
Interestingly, one social media commenter quipped, “They’ll have to take it to the next county for me to continue playing,” highlighting the unexpected nature of the day’s events.
Earlier, during the first round, turtles had also made a brief appearance, emerging from a nearby lake and settling into a bunker, which led to temporary delays for course repairs. It seems like this year’s championship is full of surprises!
