“My goodness, he really is the king of the jungle,” Finns said incredulously. “At least he's the king of the neighborhood, you know?”

According to Carolina Country, alligators in North Carolina grow more slowly than those in other Southern states, making the one caught on camera even more unusual.

According to the North Carolina Wildlife Federation (NCWF), it is illegal to feed, touch, injure, harass or poach an alligator in North Carolina.

In the video, filmed by Johnny Fins, the crocodile can be seen walking off into the darkness of night.

The NCWF also urges residents to remain vigilant in areas where crocodiles have previously been spotted and to keep pets on leads while walking.

It is also recommended to stay at least 50 feet away from reptiles and never leave children unattended near any water, including beaches.
