Seize The Grey wins 149th Preakness Stakes

Say’s the Gray won the 149th Preakness Stakes on Saturday.

Moose’s original favorite horse, trained by the controversial Bob Baffert, was injured earlier this week with a fever. As a result, Kentucky Derby winner Mystic Dan is the favorite to become the first Triple Crown winner since 2018’s Justify.

Mystic Dan got off to a slow start but finished in second place.

The Moose opened as the favorites with 8 wins and 5 losses. Mystic Dan At 5-2. Baffert said the horse was removed after reaching a temperature of 103 degrees Fahrenheit about 12 hours after arriving at the racetrack.

In fact, it was unclear for some time whether Mystic Dan would run after his Kentucky Derby win, but his owner decided it was okay for him to run.

Baffert was at Pimlico after missing out on his third consecutive Kentucky Derby due to suspension, but plans to return to Churchill Downs in 2025. His National Treasure won last year’s Preakness.
