Selection Sunday 2026: Viewing information, teams included, and additional details

2026 Men’s Basketball NCAA Tournament Previews

It’s getting closer to the moment when we’ll know the full lineup for the 2026 Men’s Basketball NCAA Tournament. Right now, nearly half of the teams are confirmed, yet, with conference tournaments still in play, it’s truly hard to predict who will face which opponents on their journey to the Final Four.

Are there still teams with hopes of making the cut?

Which team is putting in the effort to announce their inclusion? As is often the case, some squads are feeling the pressure as they await their name on Selection Sunday.

One of those teams might be Miami (Ohio).

Despite finishing the regular season with a perfect 31-0 record, the RedHawks suffered a surprising loss, 87-83, to No. 8 seed Massachusetts in the MAC Conference Tournament quarterfinals. This result has certainly intensified scrutiny on Miami’s potential matchups this year. Their non-conference schedule was rated 361st nationally out of 365 Division I teams, with an overall schedule ranking of 282nd. They even played 15 games classified as Quad 4.

However, it’s worth noting they didn’t shy away from trying to enhance their schedule. According to reports, Miami reached out to teams like Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, and Marquette for matchups but received no engagements.

Even so, they might find themselves anxiously waiting on Selection Sunday, despite their impressive 31-1 finish.

Several other bubble teams also faced early exits in their conference tournaments. Indiana fell to No. 15 seed Northwestern in the Big Ten Tournament, leaving them nervously watching on Sunday. Texas also stumbled against a 15th seed, losing to Mississippi in the SEC tournament. Other teams, including the University of Missouri and SMU, have already been knocked out of contention.

These teams, along with others, are set to participate in Selection Sunday.

While we can be fairly certain that several big-name teams are already in contention, figuring out who they will ultimately face remains a significant question. The entire field for the 2026 Men’s NCAA Tournament will be unveiled when brackets are revealed Sunday night.
