Sen. Bill Cassidy’s Fundraising Efforts Ahead of Reelection

In the second quarter of this year, Senator Bill Cassidy, a Republican from Louisiana, raised $2.12 million as he prepares for a potential third term, possibly facing off against Democratic Governor John Bell Edwards.

At 67, Cassidy currently boasts $9 million in cash reserves for his campaign, according to his team.

“We’re thankful for the support from those wanting strong conservative leadership for Louisiana,” Cassidy stated.

Recent surveys, like one from Ragnar Research, suggest Cassidy is in a favorable position among Republican voters, eclipsing candidates such as current Louisiana treasurer John Fleming and retired naval aviator Randall Arlington.

If the primary were held now, Cassidy would secure about 45% of the vote, with Fleming at 18% and Arlington trailing at just 3%.

Darius Lanus, the executive director of the Louisiana Democrats, hinted at a “formidable opponent” coming in November 2026 but did not disclose any details.

Trump recently praised Cassidy in the White House for his role in advancing legislative priorities, though they have had their disagreements. After Cassidy’s vote to convict Trump over the events of January 6, the former president called him out in April 2024 as “one of the worst senators in the US Senate.”

Despite these tensions, Cassidy’s campaign manager, Katie Larkin, highlighted Cassidy’s determination as a conservative leader, noting the fresh fundraising might indicate excitement around his reelection bid.

“Cassidy has the backing, the resources, and the momentum he needs for another term as a senior senator from Louisiana,” she added.
