Sen. Chuck Grassley released from hospital after infection treatment, will return to work next week

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) was treated for an unspecified infection and released from the hospital, his office announced Thursday.

Grassley, 90, was hospitalized in the Washington, D.C., area on Tuesday and was receiving “intravenous antibiotics,” his office said.

He plans to return to work next week.

No other details were disclosed.

Mr. Grassley was first elected to the Senate in 1980 and has been re-elected seven times. He is the oldest member of the Senate.

He received the honor after the death of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., in September.
