Sen. Josh Hawley to reveal suspected billions in fraud in Minnesota

Senate Hearing to Uncover Fraud in Minnesota

A Senate hearing scheduled for Tuesday is set to reveal significant fraud related to federal aid in Minnesota, according to a statement from Sen. Josh Hawley’s office. The session will also delve into foreign support for groups opposing ICE.

Hawley, chair of the Homeland Security Disaster Management Subcommittee, is expected to hear from Minnesota’s senators and representatives from monitoring organizations. Testimonies suggest billions have been fraudulently taken from vital services like child nutrition, FEMA assistance, housing, Medicaid, and substance abuse programs, facilitated by coordinated efforts from multinational groups.

“American taxpayers are being robbed while foreign entities create turmoil on our streets,” Hawley stated. He emphasized that “enough is enough,” advocating for an end to illicit financial activities and foreign influence.

Investigation into Fraud Allegations

Minnesota Sen. Mark Colan plans to bring attention to how Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison contributed to, what he describes, as “the largest and most rapid spread of fraud this country has ever seen.”

Witnesses are anticipated to reveal that senior officials were not only aware of the fraud but also took measures to conceal it from the public by backdating records and targeting whistleblowers.

A whistleblower from the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) reported experiencing a “smear campaign” after she raised concerns regarding fraud since 2019.

Whistleblower’s Claims

The allegations come in light of federal investigations estimating up to $9 billion stolen by fraudulent entities masquerading as child care centers, food programs, and medical facilities. Many of those charged in the investigation are reportedly Somali nationals from Minnesota.

In addition to Colan, lawmakers will hear from Seamus Bruner, deputy director of the Government Accountability Institute, along with other experts. Their testimonies will explore the connections between stolen federal aid and organized crime, drug trafficking, and even potential ties to terrorist groups.

Bruner’s efforts will also investigate foreign financial influences, linking them to figures associated with the Chinese Communist Party.
