Sen. Bernie Moreno’s Resolution for Trump
Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH) plans to propose a resolution in the Senate on Wednesday, advocating for the Norwegian Nobel Committee to award the Nobel Peace Prize to former President Donald Trump in 2025.
The upcoming resolution suggests that Trump may be instrumental in swiftly ending Iran’s nuclear program, which could reduce the potential for war in the Middle East without the need for deploying U.S. troops.
A draft of the resolution, obtained from Breitbart News, contrasts Trump’s foreign policy with that of former President Barack Obama, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009.
The resolution highlights that Obama approved 543 drone strikes during his presidency, resulting in the deaths of approximately 3,797 individuals, including over 300 civilians, despite receiving the award for his perceived efforts in global diplomacy. Additionally, it mentions Obama’s admission of not planning the aftermath of the intervention in Libya, which led to the Benghazi attack that killed four Americans.
It states, “Killing hundreds of civilians should disqualify someone from receiving the Nobel Peace Prize,” yet maintains that it does not seek to revoke Obama’s prize.
On the other hand, the resolution commends Trump’s careful use of military force in 2025, particularly regarding precision strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites that reportedly caused casualties. These actions supposedly resulted in a ceasefire between Israel and Iran just 12 days into Trump’s second term.
“President Trump has demonstrated that peace through strength can be an effective remedy against perpetual conflict,” the resolution claims.
While the 2024 Peace Prize went to a group raising awareness about nuclear risks, the resolution argues that Trump’s actions have genuinely dismantled that nuclear threat.
In a statement to Breitbart News, Moreno commented, “President Trump has separated the decades of failures between neoconservatives and Democratic globalists. Achieving peace in the Middle East and halting Iran’s nuclear advancements has been accomplished without U.S. boots on the ground. It’s time for the world to acknowledge the evident truth and grant him the Nobel Peace Prize.”
The resolution wraps up with a formal appeal to the Nobel Committee, urging them to recognize Trump’s efforts.
