Senator Rick Scott from Florida is taking aim at mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, who identifies as a socialist.
This weekend, a banner message flown over New York’s beaches stated, “Don’t you hate socialism? We do too! Move to FL.” The ad went on to emphasize, “We have a better beach.”
Scott described the campaign as a “friendly reminder” for New Yorkers, asserting that Florida offers an escape from socialism alongside its attractive beaches.
The senator also criticized the high cost of living in New York City, instances of anti-Semitism at universities, and the increasing popularity of Mamdani.
“New York City used to embody the American Dream—a place where anyone could succeed. Now, it seems like only billionaires can prosper, while Jewish students face attacks on campus and socialist ideals gain traction,” Scott mentioned. He added that the city, which should benefit from capitalism—the most effective system—has fallen prey to Democrats nationwide.
Scott claimed that Democrats are working tirelessly to undermine President Trump and reshape the country using radical socialist views.
He labeled socialism as “outdated, ineffective ideas that fail every time they are implemented,” pointing out that Florida has become a refuge for families escaping harsh regimes in Cuba and Venezuela.
Scott emphasized his commitment to ensuring every family can access quality jobs, education, and safe neighborhoods. “It’s an American dream, and it’s disheartening to see it slipping away in New York,” he remarked.
He concluded with a plea that “New York families deserve better.”
