Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, has brought in $6.6 million in the last three months for what is likely to be the toughest race of his career, according to Politico.
Brown, a three-term Democrat, has $14.6 million on hand to spend on his challenging reelection campaign.
“Sherrod Brown is fighting for Ohio while his opponents fight for the title of largest self-funder — that’s why Sherrod continues to have the momentum in this race,” said campaign manager Rachel Petri.
The winner of a GOP primary featuring Secretary of State Frank LaRose, state Sen. Matt Dolan, and businessman Bernie Moreno will face Brown.
Politico noted that Dolan and Moreno have the ability to self-fund their campaigns.
Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan announced on Monday he is backing Moreno, former President Donald Trump’s preferred candidate, in the upcoming primary.
Moreno, a wealthy Cleveland businessman, announced Jordan’s endorsement in a post on X, which included a statement from Jordan that read, “I am proud to stand alongside former President Trump and [Ohio GOP] Sen. [J.D.] Vance in endorsing Bernie Moreno for U.S. Senate.”
Brown is expected to have a tough fight to win Ohio, which has backed Trump in two successive elections.
