US Senate Condemns Assassination of Charlie Kirk
The US Senate has unanimously passed a resolution condemning the assassination of conservative commentator and founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, while also honoring his legacy.
Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) stated, “The US Senate unanimously passed my resolution to condemn the assassination of Charlie Kirk and praise his outstanding legacy. This is just a flag, planted on a hill. What matters is where it will be carried next.”
A photo shared by Lee included the resolution’s text, which mentions that Kirk was tragically killed at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025, during an event with a large group of university students.
It also notes that Kirk was a committed husband, father, and Christian. In 2012, he founded Turning Point USA, a conservative advocacy group on campuses that has since grown rapidly. Kirk was known for engaging with students from various political backgrounds, promoting open discussions and civic discourse on university campuses.
The resolution expresses that the Senate “condemns” Kirk’s assassination “on the strongest possible conditions” and extends “deepest sadness and sympathy” to his family, including his wife, Erika, and their two children. Furthermore, it emphasizes respecting Kirk’s “commitment to constitutional principles and debate among all.”
Bradley Jaye, political editor at Breitbart News, relayed that Lee hopes to gather bipartisan support to honor the fallen leader.
Kirk was tragically shot in the head at the event in Utah. Both Republican and Democratic leaders expressed their sorrow over his death and highlighted the impact on civil discourse and the defense of free speech on university campuses.
