Senate confirms Dan Caine to lead Joint Chiefs in late-night vote

The Senate voted early Friday morning to confirm President Trump's choice to be chairman of the Co-Chief of Staff.

From 60 A Democrat led by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) blocked the quick passage of Caine's nomination to protest Trump's February 21st shooting by General Brown Jr. after 25 votes came.

However, despite Brown's unexplained firing, Kane had bipartisan support following a relatively quiet confirmation hearing in which he had no major objection to becoming the best uniformed official in the US military. The Senate Armed Services Committee, which oversaw his hearing, voted 23-4 votes to hand his appointment to the full Senate.

Panel chair Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) urged his colleagues to hand over Kane on Wednesday “without delay,” pointing to the enemy that continues to unite against China's continued military accumulation and our interests.

“President Trump should have the expertise of the highest ranked military officers without delay,” he said in a statement, claiming that Kane “sailed” the Senate Armed Worship Committee vote.

The passage of Senate Kane's nomination comes after Trump blindly blinded the Pentagon and Congress in February.

Democrats argued that the Trump administration's fire is a move to politicize historically non-political US troops, trying to fill the positions of people who don't oppose his views and top DOD leaders. Before his current position, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses had insisted that Brown would be fired along with all the other “awakening” generals involved in building diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts.

“It sends a horrifying message about who is in our army and who is not welcome,” Warren said of the shootings at a hearing of the Senate's Armed Services Subcommittee on Wednesday.

However, Kane said at his confirmation hearing that he would not become Trump's “yes man” if he was voted. He also said he would follow US laws and constitutional laws and that if the president asks him to carry out illegal orders he will be fired and pushed back.
