Sen. Marsha Blackburn Discusses Senate Republican Plans
Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) expressed optimism during a roundtable discussion with the founders of Breitbart Fight Club on Monday, asserting that Senate Republicans are “on track” to deliver a “big and beautiful bill” to President Donald Trump by July 4th.
Speaking alongside Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlowe and Washington Director Matthew Boyle, Blackburn detailed efforts to make Trump’s tax cuts permanent and advance his agenda, which includes changes to tips, overtime, and social security taxes for seniors.
As a member of the Senate Treasury Committee, Blackburn recently shared the modifications she proposed for Trump’s significant legislative initiative. She stated, “We’re on track to get this back home, so we can come along with changes that will take us through the Birdbus and take us to the President. If there’s unity, we want to pass President Trump’s agenda, which will be a permanent thing to not pass this bill.”
The proposed legislation aims to introduce permanent R&D credits and bonus depreciation to benefit numerous small businesses, particularly in manufacturing. Blackburn emphasized the impacts on job growth and mentioned concerns about double taxation on social security, which she views as a relief aligned with the President’s regulations.
“There are also a few other provisions,” she added. “There are childcare tax credits for employers that provide childcare to employees. We look forward to getting that provision across the finish line.”
In a past conversation on Breitbart News Daily, Blackburn argued that the Senate’s version of Trump’s “big and beautiful bill” would surpass what the House had offered, with a desire for “more spending cuts.”
During the roundtable, Blackburn addressed accusations from the left regarding cuts to Medicaid and Medicare, refuting such claims. “I want to say, you have all the people on the left. ‘Oh, you’re cutting Medicaid. Ah, you’re cutting Social Security.’ That’s not true. We’re addressing waste, fraud, and abuse in our Medicare programs,” she stated.
