Kennedy Criticizes Comey and Brennan
Senator John Kennedy (R-La.) recently expressed strong disapproval of former FBI director James Comey and former CIA director John Brennan, claiming that the political elite in Washington harbors a deep-seated animosity towards him.
“I know some people who worked with them closely, and well, if you talk to those around them, you might find that their popularity is, uh, not exactly great—like, let’s say, the appeal of male pattern baldness,” Kennedy commented about the two, who made an appearance on Fox News’ “Faulkner Focus.”
He went on to suggest that Comey and Brennan would prefer hiring “somebody working at McDonald’s” over “ethical individuals.”
Both Comey and Brennan were appointed as heads of their agencies during President Obama’s administration.
Recent reports from the New York Times indicated that both figures were in the crosshairs of the Trump administration due to their actions related to the former president.
Comey was affiliated with the Republican Party until 2016 when he switched to independent voter status. Many speculate that his actions just before the election, particularly reopening an investigation into Hillary Clinton, significantly influenced Trump’s initial campaign success.
In the following year, Trump dismissed Comey, and Brennan was later terminated for openly criticizing the president’s leadership during his term.
Brennan has stated, “This move forms part of Trump’s larger plan to suppress freedom of speech and retaliate against critics. Every American, particularly those in intelligence, should be alarmed by the implications of this action,” reflecting on Trump’s decision to revoke his security clearance.
He insisted, “My principles outweigh any clearance. I am not without mercy.”
In July, the DOJ initiated a criminal inquiry that linked Comey and Brennan to a 2017 investigation into Trump’s connections with Russia.
Kennedy remarked to host Harris Faulkner, “These individuals lack honesty. If they violate the law, they must be held responsible.”
Comey has also reacted to the atmosphere among Trump’s associates, particularly highlighting some of their more extreme stances on social media.
