Sen. Warnock’s Spending on Security Raises Eyebrows

Recent reports indicate that Senator Raphael Warnock (D) has allocated around $360,000 for national security between January and September 2025. Interestingly, this expenditure seems a bit contrary to his advocacy for gun control.

Warnock’s chosen security provider, Executive Protection Agency, LLC, specializes in offering armed protection for political figures. It’s noteworthy—though perhaps a bit ironic—that Warnock’s campaign has spent over $2.7 million on private security since December 2020, as highlighted by reports from earlier this year.

In a 2021 analysis, it was revealed that Warnock was the highest spender among his peers in Congress, with security costs exceeding $605,000. This certainly raises questions about the interplay between advocating for gun control and investing heavily in personal security.

Despite being a vocal proponent of restricting Second Amendment rights, Warnock has expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of gun control legislation. A year following the signing of the Bipartisan Safe Communities Act (BSCA), he noted that while the legislation was a step forward, it was “clearly not enough.” He seems frustrated by the influence of the gun lobby, stating, “We are at an impasse because there are people in politics who are following the orders of the corporatist gun lobby while lining their own pockets with the blood of our children.”

On September 26, 2025, Warnock’s office released a statement labeling gun violence as a “national epidemic.” He has consistently pushed for broader measures, including a ban on assault weapons and universal background checks. His re-election campaign in 2022 saw backing from Giffords, a major gun control organization, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a supportive Senate majority.

Giffords commented, “We need Sen. Warnock in the Senate, and with a gun safety majority at stake, it’s more important than ever that Georgians send him back to Washington, D.C., for a full term.”
