Several seniors and residents at a nursing home in Chevy Chase, Maryland, told Politico they were uncomfortable with President Biden’s performance at Thursday night’s debate between former President Trump.
“We’ve finally defeated Medicare,” Biden declared during the debate in a lengthy speech about the U.S. health care system.
The statement left 81-year-old Barbara Goldberg “at her wits’ end.” Politico reportedHe then repeated Biden’s words as he watched the events unfold.

“Have we finally beaten Medicare?” she said.
“do not want to see [Biden’s] “I don’t like gaffes, but I also don’t like to see Trump get out of control or do crazy things,” Goldberg said.
“I think he’s in a hurry and he’s barely looking at the camera,” Meg Maguire, 81, who was visiting a nursing home during Thursday night’s debate, told Politico.
“Trump has a better physical relationship with the camera,” Maguire said, adding that “Trump says some crap.”
“I think Biden’s age is on display in this debate, and that’s what’s painful,” she said.

“Let’s be honest, the debates are a performance,” Claire Moses, 83, told the outlet.
“Biden is not performing well,” Moses said. “I’m very sad tonight because I think Biden is a great president. He’s a great president because of what he’s done and what he’s accomplished, not because of how he talks.”
Hours after his debate performance, many political commentators and journalists called on Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race.
“If Biden truly believes democracy is at stake, he should step aside and let another Democrat run against Trump. Put country first,” said Alyssa Farrah Griffin of “The View.”
“Joe Biden should stand by his accomplishments by ending his candidacy,” Vox correspondent Eric Levitz wrote.
