Eugenio Chacala is tired of LIV Golf and its high salaries.
said the 24-year-old Spaniard, who played for Sergio Garcia's Fireballs GC team but was not retained. Social Media Accounts Flushing It That LIV did not fulfill its promise.
“When I joined LIV, they made a promise. [Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points] And major,” Chakara told Flushing It.
“But that didn't happen. I trusted them. I was the first young man and then other young people came after I made the decision. But the OWGR and the majors still didn't materialize. I didn't. I met you last year when they made the bid. It's frustrating, but I'm looking forward to new opportunities and where my game will take me.”
Chakara left Oklahoma State University in early spring of 2022 and signed a three-year contract with LIV Golf. At the time, he was an up-and-coming young star and a vital signing for the Saudi-backed league. That summer, LIV signed a number of senior players, including Phil Mickelson, Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Martin Keimer, but they also needed young blood. Chakara fit the mold perfectly, as he wanted a long and prosperous career in professional golf. It seemed like a perfect match.
But now the Spaniard wants to compete for a PGA Tour card instead.
“You'll see what it's like to win on the PGA Tour and how it can change your life. How to earn major access and ranking points,” Chakara said.
“Nothing changes in LIV, all there is is money. It doesn't matter if I finish 30th or 1st, it's just money. I'm not a guy who wants more money. My What changes my life is playing in Hawaii and qualifying for a major, the Masters, the Ryder Cup.”
The Saudi-backed LIV Golf League has more capital than anyone could imagine. The Public Investment Fund (PIF), which funds LIV, has over $700 billion in assets and has invested well over $1 billion in Startup League.
Dozens of players will receive big salaries to participate, and every LIV event will feature a $20 million purse, with $4 million going to the winner. Chakara took home the winner's check once in Bangkok in October 2022.
“I am grateful for everything LIV has given me. I am 24 years old and my life is set,” Chakara added.
“I don't know if it's going to be the best thing to do, but I know this is what my heart is saying is right and my motivation to wake up and work hard and improve and say I can be. It will help me become a PGA Tour player someday. ”
