Upcoming WWE Championship Matches

This weekend’s Summer Slam promises some exciting showdowns. Both the WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Championship will be up for grabs during the two-night event.

Gunther will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against CM Punk, while John Cena is set to face off in Street Fights for the WWE Championship. This could be Cena’s final appearance at a Summer Slam Premium Live event, adding some drama to the night.

Interestingly, Seth Rollins, a notable contender in the championship scene, recently faced a setback. He appeared to injure his knee during a main event match and had to pause briefly for treatment. However, once the match resumed, his opponent took advantage of the situation, leading to Rollins’ defeat.

Since that match, Rollins hasn’t been seen on Monday Night Raw. Instead, Paul Heyman, his advisor, has been holding Rollins’ Money in the Bank briefcase while Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed create chaos for Jay Uso and Roman Reigns.

Rollins mentioned he had some imaging done on his knee, noting that swelling might require further examination. He emphasized he’s no doctor but knows his body well enough to understand something might be off.

In a recent pre-Summer Slam exchange, Cena took some light jabs at Dwayne Johnson and Travis Scott, alongside Cody Rhodes, which added an extra layer of tension heading into the big event.

Interestingly, as Rollins plots his moves, there’s a chance he could cash in his Money in the Bank contract to insert himself into one of the championship matches. This could lead to a major moment for him, although the question remains: which title would he pursue?

Rollins has a history of making significant plays without always needing to cash out his contract. He previously challenged for titles that made headlines, and there’s buzz around this weekend’s championships potentially transforming the landscape of WWE.

Rollins has been absent since he made those remarks on July 16. Speculations swirl that he might actually be injured, but it’s unclear whether it’s part of a storyline or a legitimate concern. Regardless, he retains considerable influence going into this weekend’s events, potentially tipping the scales at WWE’s biggest summer show.
