Seton Hall rips Georgia to roar into NIT title game

INDIANAPOLIS — Al Amir Dawes returned home for 20 points, Dre Davis had 19 points and nine rebounds, and top-seeded Seton Hall defeated fourth-seeded Georgia 84-67 on Tuesday night. They defeated them and advanced to the NIT Championship Game. This is the first time since winning in 1953.

Seton Hall (24-12) will play Indiana State (32-6) on Thursday in front of the Sycamores’ home crowd.

For Seton Hall, Cadary Richmond had 15 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Jayden Bediako had 14 points and seven boards, and Jaquan Sanders had 11 points.

Cyrus Demarie Jr. had 19 points, four assists and two blocks for the Bulldogs (20-17).

Noah Thomasson scored 10 points and RJ Melendez added nine points.

Seton Hall started the game on an 18-3 run and led by at least nine points the rest of the way.

Seton Hall’s largest lead was 24 points, 62-38, with 13:22 left in the second half.

Seton Hall, which has won four straight against SEC opponents, will play in April for the first time since the 1989 NCAA National Championship Game against Michigan.
