Seven House Republicans stop GENIUS Act with Epstein documents amendment, as MTG claims it would give Democrats control over the House floor.

House Votes on Defense Budget and Cryptography Bills

The House recently voted on the Procedural Rules and the Defense Budget Bill, which set the stage for discussions around the Discussion and Genius Act, including two key cryptography measures: the Clarity Act and the Anti-CBDC Observation National Act.

While the House aimed to advance these measures, the effort faced a setback with a vote of 223 to 196. This derailed the floor debate surrounding the Genius Acts. Notably, an amendment related to Jeffrey Epstein was already blocked by the committee the previous night.

A faction of Hardline Republicans, including figures like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Tim Burchett, expressed opposition to moving forward with the Genius Act unless a ban on central bank digital currency (CBDC) was included, according to reports from various sources.

Democrats, spearheaded by Rep. Ro Khanna, attempted to submit amendments to the procedural rules resolution for the Genius Act and other bills, which passed in the Rules Committee by a narrow vote of 6 to 5.

The amendment sought to compel Attorney General Pam Bondi and the DOJ to release all records related to the Epstein investigation within 30 days, including the infamous “client list.”

“Last night, the Speaker Rules Committee voted to block my amendment for the full release of the Epstein Files while attempting to protect the identity of the victims. This shows their priority lies with the wealthy and powerful who have exploited these young women,” Khanna stated.

Despite his push for transparency, both left- and right-leaning social media users questioned Khanna’s motives, particularly why he didn’t seek document releases during Biden’s presidency. Some wondered why he attached this issue to a cryptocurrency bill in the first place.

The Genius Law, also known as the Leading and Establishing National Innovation for the Stablecoins Act, is considered groundbreaking for its aim to regulate U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoins, essentially trying to connect the realms of cryptocurrency and traditional finance.

Nevertheless, the amendment regarding Epstein did not pass in the House Rules Committee, with only GOP representative Ralph Norman supporting it.

“Today, we will get our first upvote on the release of the Epstein files. I will keep pushing until they are made public,” Khanna tweeted.

Interestingly, seven GOP members voted against the Epstein file release: Rep. Virginia Fox, Michelle Fischbach, Erin Houchin, Nick Langworthy, among others.

“There’s been some confusion about the nature of this vote. It was just procedural; we were opposing the floor management of the Democrats,” Greene noted.

The debate around Epstein’s files has become a divisive issue among various factions, even within the conservative sphere. Talk show host Matt Walsh has voiced ongoing frustration over the situation, emphasizing that many Americans feel misled.

“People want justice. We can’t just forget about these issues. We must expose the truth surrounding this case,” Walsh insisted.

Walsh’s remarks addressed the overarching concerns regarding Epstein’s activities, linking them to powerful elites. There are ongoing speculations regarding Epstein’s connections with intelligence communities, particularly pointing to his controversial plea deal that allowed him to serve a mere 13 months in a cushy prison arrangement.

The complexities surrounding Epstein extend to his connections to figures like Robert Maxwell, whose own past raises eyebrows regarding espionage. This web of intrigue continues to engage public interest, stirring up debates around accountability and justice.

  • Prominent leaders often only get the honor of a hero’s funeral in Israel under specific circumstances, typically reserved for those of national significance.
  • Maxwell’s mysterious death and subsequent public narrative have only added layers to the unfolding story around Epstein.
  • Occurrences involving former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Epstein have been scrutinized, particularly post-2008, following Epstein’s conviction.

This ongoing narrative shows that the shadows of past actions continue to loom large, raising questions about the intersections of power, influence, and accountability.
