Seventy-year-old woman killed in Hollywood Hills home break-in

Scary news from Hollywood Hills where a 70-year-old woman was unfortunately strangled during a home invasion. The attackers reportedly made off with a significant amount of cash and jewelry, according to police.

On Thursday evening, around 8 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department arrived at the scene located on Lookout Mountain Avenue in Laurel Canyon. They discovered that at least one suspect had entered the residence to steal valuables and escaped before officers could intervene.

The victim sustained injuries during the attack and was taken to a local hospital; thankfully, her condition was stable afterwards.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene, with numerous police vehicles and aerial support scouring the area for the suspects, who had fled the scene. Officers cordoned off the vicinity with yellow tape as part of their investigation.

The intruders, dressed in hoodies and masks, fled in a white Honda Accord, carrying away a “large amount” of stolen cash and jewelry.

Neighbors commented on the area being a “perfect target” for such crimes. One local mentioned, “It’s a dark street. It’s at the top. It’s a dead-end street. There aren’t many people,” suggesting that this made it seem like an easy place for a break-in.

The Robbery-Homicide Unit of the LAPD is currently looking into the incident.

This upscale neighborhood is notable for housing many celebrities, including actor Keanu Reeves and singer Sabrina Carpenter. Recently, former child actor Dylan Sprouse faced a different scenario when he tackled an intruder at his home, holding him at gunpoint until police arrived.
