Several people have been reported to be killed from Vancouver, Canada, after drivers sprinted through the crowd at the street festival. Local police said the incident occurred around 8pm local time. The incident occurred when members of the Philippine community gathered to celebrate Lapu Lapu Day at a sunset in the city of Fraser district. The driver was taken into custody, police said.
“At the very moment tonight, just after 8pm, E. 41st Avenue and Fraser’s street festival, many people were killed and several others were injured. The driver is in custody. We’ll provide more information as the investigation unfolds,” Vancouver police said.
Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim said: “I am deeply saddened by the horrifying incident at today’s Lapu-Lapu Day event.”
“Our idea lies in all the people affected and the Filipino community in Vancouver during this incredibly difficult time,” he added.
Several videos of the incident have surfaced on social media, showing the body lying on the street after a car attack.

New Democrat, Don Davis, tweeted about the “terrifying attack,” saying “I’m praying for all the victims and their families.”
“I have just heard the tragic news of a horrific attack at the Lapu Lapu Festival. I am praying for all the victims and their families,” he said.
