New Haven firefighters and other authorities responded Friday to reports that a building collapsed a few blocks away from Yale University, trapping people.
Few details were immediately available, but officials said there did not appear to be any fatalities.
Several people were removed from the building.
Initial reports said a building under construction on Lafayette Avenue had partially collapsed, injuring several people, according to Mayor Justin Ericker’s spokesman Lenny Speller.
Later, fire officials heard a radio scanner stating that everyone at the work site had confirmed their whereabouts.
Police and firefighters could not be reached for comment.
Several ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
Television news video showed paramedics carrying one person out of the scene on a stretcher.
