Several Women Claim Jared Leto Engaged in Sexual Misconduct When They Were Teenagers

Allegations Against Jared Leto

Four women have accused Jared Leto, the Oscar-winning actor and lead singer of Thirty Seconds to Mars, of sexual misconduct.

According to a report by the BBC, these incidents allegedly occurred when the women were teenagers, coinciding with the release of the documentary “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret.” One woman stated she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom at the age of 17, while another claimed she was 17 when Leto, then 34, had sex with her at his home in California.

She recounted Leto saying, “I would like you to call me daddy.” In California, the age of consent is 18, which would make this encounter statutory rape, potentially leading to criminal charges.

Another alleged victim reported that Leto assaulted her in a motel bathroom back in 2002, stating that he caught her off-guard and masturbated using her hand.

Additionally, another woman claimed Leto threatened her with sexual assault. The fourth woman described how she was groomed by the actor and said she received sexually explicit phone calls at the age of 16. She also mentioned providing the BBC with a nondisclosure agreement that Leto’s lawyer had presented to her, which she refused to sign.

The BBC noted that a total of ten women participated in the documentary—nine of whom shared their allegations for the first time. Most of these encounters allegedly occurred between 2002 and 2016.

One of the women expressed frustration, saying, “This was 25 years ago… he has gotten away with it.” The outlet claimed to have seen messages and images presented by the women.

Furthermore, two male staff members also spoke to the BBC about feeling uncomfortable with Leto’s interactions with teenage girls, who they alleged were brought backstage or to his home. One staffer remarked, “I think everyone thought the age gap was way too big.”

Leto, known for films like “Dallas Buyers Club,” “Fight Club,” “Blade Runner 2049,” “Suicide Squad,” and “Masters of the Universe,” is also part of the rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, which he has been touring with since its formation in 1998. He has not publicly addressed the allegations against him.
