Mets’ Jared Young Injured in Collision

During a game at Citi Field on Thursday night, New York Mets first baseman Jared Young was taken off the field on a stretcher after a concerning clash with teammate Nolan McLean while facing the Phillies.

The incident took place in the top of the sixth inning when Justin Crawford of the Phillies hit a slow grounder toward first base. Both Young and McLean, who was pitching, moved in to play the ball.

As Young dove for the grounder, McLean tried to leap over him. Unfortunately, McLean’s knee struck the side of Young’s head, causing him to drop face-first into the dirt. For several tense moments, he remained motionless.

Emergency medical personnel from the Mets swiftly entered the field to attend to the 31-year-old player. They stabilized Young’s neck and conducted evaluations right there before placing him on a stretcher.

As he was being wheeled off, Young gave the crowd at Citi Field a reassuring thumbs-up, prompting a wave of supportive applause from the fans.

Afterward, Mark Vientos took over at first base when the game resumed. The Mets have not yet made an official statement about Young’s condition, but more updates are anticipated following comprehensive assessments and concussion tests at the hospital.
