Officers responded to a request for a welfare check at the apartment and said they found multiple black bags containing body parts in the refrigerator and freezer. The medical examiner was later able to identify Gelser through fingerprints, according to the criminal complaint.

Police did not release additional details about the incident Friday, including when and how Gelser was killed.

McGee was scheduled to appear in court on Friday. The case is not yet in online court records, and the district attorney’s office said it had no information about his legal representation.
